House of Bread receives $75K grant from Walmart Foundation

A grant of $75,000 has been awarded by the Walmart Foundation to House of Bread, Inc. in Hartford to support the agency’s soup kitchen and Kids Café program. These programs serve over 250 homeless and needy adults every day at the soup kitchen, and over 500 school-aged children every weekday September-June at nine partner sites throughout the city.

House of Bread Receives Special Gift from Young Supporters

Three young ladies decided to have a garage sale for charity in August.  Half the proceeds supported juvenile arthritis research, and the other half went to the House of Bread.  Teagan and her friends are eleven years old and with help from their parents they raised $212.22 to support House of Bread’s ministry.

2017 ESOL Summer Classes a Great Success

Tuesday and Thursday mornings were lively this summer due to a six week summer ESOL program for adults at the Jubilee House facility. The program centered on a “culture” curriculum during which the enthusiastic group of students discussed both aspects of American culture and the related practices in their native countries. Instruction involved many small group activities. Topics featured included: fashion, food, art, sports, travel, music, careers, hobbies, and politics.
